2020 PROVINCIAL ASSEMBLY TAKES OFF

Date Posted:

The opening ceremony of the Nigeria Provincial Assembly took place on 19th August 2020, after all the participants in Nigeria arrived safely at St. Louise Provincial House, Eleme. The participants in Ghana and Burkina Faso also arrived at their different locations. It began with a day of recollection facilitated by Very Rev. Fr. Peter Okonkwo CMF. The Assembly was officially declared open by the Visitatrice, Sr. Theresa Eke DC, after the Eucharistic celebration. The Visitatrice, the Provincial Bursar, Sr. Angela Onah DC, and Coordinators of various Commissions presented a summary of the activities carried out in the past six years, including challenges and plans for the future.

Very Rev. Fr. Jude Asanbe, Ag. Rector of the Catholic Institute of West Africa, Port Harcourt gave a key note address centering on the theme of the Assembly "EPHATA".

Sr. Ifeyinwa Muoegbunam, MSHR, spoke to us on "The Mystique of living together" using concrete life experiences. Sr. Philomena Okwu DC and Sr. Olivia Umoh DC challengingly took us through the reality of "The scourge of homelessness and human trafficking" in our society today. The inputs were thought provoking, challenging, inspiring and encouraging instilling in each sister the willingness to be open, to go towards and to encounter.

The Assembly progressed to the glory of God in his son our Lord Jesus Christ, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the powerful intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary, the only mother of the little company.
